How to Achieve a Full Chaturanga Pushup

Want to build strength in your abs and upper body?! If you’re looking to achieve a full chaturanga push-up, practice on your knees first.

Here is what you’ll do:

1. From High Plank drop to your knees and bring heels in towards your booty.

2. Keeping your abs engaged, wrists under shoulders and a straight line from your head to your knees - pull your shoulders back and slowly begin to lower.

3. Go as low as you can (but never below a 90 degree bend in your elbow) while maintaining this form. Your body should move as one solid unit.

4. Press back up or transition right into your upward facing dog! As you begin to feel more comfortable, try on your toes! However if your back starts to dip, your elbows splay out, or you're straining your neck ... come back to your knees!

I hope this helps make your yoga practice a little more fun and sets you on the right path to reach your goals!!! Xo Melis
